Nottingham Shakespeare Company – The Tempest (2026)

Produced a full-cast outdoor tour of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Managed from the point of hiring director, contracting technical crew, securing venues, through to audition, rehearsal and production.

Eleven venues over two weeks in three counties. A cast of eleven. Over 1800 audience members. 5x return on budget.

The Tempest marked Nottingham Shakespeare’s first full cast outdoor performances in two years. We aimed to re-engage our (mostly within the Nottingham metropolitan area) existing audience and develop interest in new communities further afield: Mansfield, Uppingham, and Newark. We were thankfully blessed by wonderful weather, attendance and income through donations were up 75% from our last comparable tour.

Nottingham Shakespeare Company – TIE Tour 25/26

Administered the delivery of an ACE supported TIE tour of Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth aimed at KS4 students studying the text for English. Duties ranged from managing accounts, actors, booking rehearsals & shows, planning & executing show-days as actor/SM, producing and maintaining all relevant documentation and being first point of contact for queries relating to the tour.

The outcomes of this tour were to

• Provide 20 performances at a reduced rate to Nottinghamshire Schools unable to normally afford touring theatre.
• Develop an abridged version of Much Ado About Nothing with our standing company to add to our tour offering.
• Receive feedback for the production of a report on the efficacy of our work.
• Develop new marketing materials to support continued bookings into the 26/27 school year.

Thanks to funding received from the Arts Council England and Culture Collider, we are continuing our work in schools through the 26/27 academic year. We aim to:

• Provide 40 performances to schools across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
• Develop abridged versions of both A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night.
• Deliver workshops in performing and interpreting Shakespeare – practical approaches to learning – to a minimum of 200 students.
